Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone wants to fight Conor McGregor at UFC 196

While they have not made any comment on the situation as of yet, the UFC seems to be in a scramble to find a replacement for Conor McGregor at UFC 196. UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos pulled out of the main event after breaking his foot in training.

It looks like one fighter has already thrown his name in the hat to fight McGregor. According to FOX Sports, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone would love to replace dos Anjos in the fight on March 5.

Cerrone’s manager Josh Jones reportedly contacted the UFC and told them that he is “interested” in the fight. There has been no word on whether he will be considered for the bout.

On Sunday, Cerrone submitted Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 93 in Pittsburgh. However, he was fighting as a welterweight at the time, which means he would have to cut to 155-pounds for the McGregor bout.

There is no word on if McGregor and his opponent will fight for the interim lightweight title.
