The Duke Blue Devils have done a good job of bouncing back after a midseason slump, and coach Mike Krzyzewski’s men could soon be in an even greater position to make a deep tournament run depending on how one wants to translate a recent Instagram post from star guard Grayson Allen.
What did Allen post? Simply a picture of himself with teammate Amile Jefferson, who has been out since early December since breaking his foot in practice.
This could mean a number of things. Allen could just be supporting a teammate in his recovery, or could he be teasing Jefferson’s return?
Regardless, there’s no doubt that Duke would love to have Jefferson back with the NCAA Tournament just a few weeks away. He has size at 6-foot-9, 225 pounds and was averaging 11.4 points and 10.3 rebounds prior to his injury, and his leadership and experience in being on the court for the Blue Devils’ national championship run last year would be clutch.
Also, let’s not forget just how much Duke has been hurting in the depth department as of late. Duke beat North Carolina really using just six players last week and though that’s nice for a one-time occurrence, it shouldn’t become par for the course this late in the season.
