Report: Saints expected to release Marques Colston

If there is one name that has become synonymous with the New Orleans Saints’ success the last ten years is wide receiver Marques Colston. He has been one of the best receivers in the NFC since being drafted out of Hofstra in the seventh round in 2006.

However, it now looks like his career could be coming to an end very soon. NFL.com’s Rand Getlin reported that the Saints are expected to release Colston in the coming days.

I'm told the #Saints will release WR Marques Colton. Was awesome for New Orleans for years. Racked up 9,759 receiving yards over 10 seasons.

This is pretty sad news for all Saints fans as Colston has been a key piece in their success the last decade. However, it is just one of the casualties that can be expected from the team who is in cap room hell right now.

In his ten-year career, Colston has six 1,000-yard seasons and is the Saints’ all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
