Redskins president believes Robert Griffin III will play elsewhere in 2016

The Washington Redskins announced on Tuesday that Robert Griffin III will likely not be with the team in 2016. This has been very apparent as he was replaced by Kirk Cousins ahead of the 2015 season.

Griffin was drafted second overall in 2012 after winning the Heisman Trophy just months before. He had a very promising start to his career, leading the team to the NFC East championship and being named Offensive Rookie of the Year.

This has led to the team’s president, Bruce Allen, giving his stamp of approval on the quarterback. He said on the Dan Sielo Show on The Mighty 1090 Tuesday afternoon that he believes that Griffin will be playing elsewhere next season.

I see Robert getting an opportunity with another team,” Allen said. “We’ve heard from some teams that are interested. I think he’s going to have a choice of a couple teams that will let him excel in the future.”

During his three years with the Redskins, he threw for 8,181 yards and 42 touchdowns with 24 interceptions. He also ran for 1,501 yards and eight touchdowns.

He had a great career with the Redskins, just a rough end to it. He certainly is a quarterback that could lead a team who is in need of one this year.
