Any kid who grew up watching Nickelodeon in the ’90s was a fan of the game show Legends of the Hidden Temple, a program that used the setting of an ancient Mayan temple and kids working together in teams to try and find various lost treasures in it in order to win various prizes.
Well, that piece of nostalgia may be coming back soon. According to Variety, Nickelodeon is planning to bring LOTHT back as a live action TV movie, with a pitch set to be included in a presentation that also features an upcoming two-part TV movie based on another ’90s Nick hit, Hey Arnold!.
Simply put, this is a great idea even if the game show itself isn’t coming back with Kirk Fogg as host. This show was something a bunch of kids looked forward to watching day after day, be it for Olmec’s stories, the Temple Games or even to see where the dangerous Temple Guards would pop up. Also, who didn’t brag about how much of an ace they would be on the Steps of Knowledge?
Either way, depending on how this movie turns out, if it ever sees the air, perhaps the show itself can be rebooted if the reviews are positive. In which case, a bunch of adults worldwide would probably be responsible for Nickelodeon’s ratings going up.
