Illinois fires HC Bill Cubit after one season

The Illinois Fighting Illini had a pretty odd start to their 2015 college football season. They fired head coach Tim Beckman just days before their first game of the year.

They appointed offensive coordinator Bill Cubit head coach and he led the team to a 5-7 record in his first year as a head coach at the Division I level. Now it looks like the Fighting Illini, who were the first team to fire their head coach, are the last ones to fire their head coach following the 2015 season.

BREAKING: Bill Cubit dismissed as #illini football coach

Just a little over a month ago, the Illini had confirmed Cubit as their head coach, but it now looks like they will be looking for a coach ahead of the 2016 season. It should be pretty easy to find one as they have a little less than six months before the start of the season.

Cubit had spent the last three years at Illinois, serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
