Report: Julius Peppers recruiting Matt Forte to Green Bay

Matt Forte is easily one of the hottest running backs on the free agent market and he will likely be getting a big payday before it is all said and done. It looks like one team that is willing to give him that big payday is a rival of his former team.

ESPN recently laid out what the best course of action is for each team in free agency. They gave their opinion for each team’s best free agent target and they believe that Forte would be best suited for the Green Bay Packers.

Ironically, former Chicago Bear defensive end Julius Peppers, who is now with the Packers, has been trying to recruit Forte to Lambeau. That could be all he needs to make the jump within division and officially alienate himself from Chicago forever.

“It makes so much sense. With backup running back James Starks a free agent, the Packers need someone to push Eddie Lacy. Word is that another ex-Bear-turned-Packer Julius Peppers has been trying to recruit Forte to Green Bay. It sounds like Forte wants to go to a contender, so perhaps the Packers could get him at an affordable price. — Rob Demovsky”

In his eight years with the Bears, Forte has certainly proven his worth as a running back. He has rushed for 8,602 yards and 45 touchdowns.

In every season, he has gone for nearly 900 yards, including five 1,000-yard seasons. To say that he is one of the best running backs in the NFL today would certainly be an understatement.
