Video: Official ejects play-by-play announcer

It’s quite common for a team-run broadcast to show a bit of bias towards their own when it comes to calls during the game. It’s just the nature of the business, and many are used to it and accept it.

Except for Pat Adams.

During the Horizon League tournament semifinals on Monday night, a game that Adams was officiating, he decided to eject the play-by-play broadcaster for Green Bay after arguing a call on the broadcast.

Looks like the official is trying to get the Green Bay announcer thrown out here in the Horizon League semifinal. Isn't moving yet.

Wow. Green Bay play-by-play announcer Matt Menzel was just ejected from the game. #MotorCityMadness #HLMBB

The Green Bay announcer has been reinstated and is back on the air. (After being sent to his room for a few minutes. Or something like that)

He did in fact leave the court for several minutes. #MotorCityMadness #HLMBB

You can check out a video during the altercation from the broadcast below.

It truly was remarkable to see and follow, and it has to be one of the first incidents like this ever happening. The official’s job is to take care of the action on the court, worrying about what a play-by-play person says about you or a call you make is just petty and downright embarrassing.
