New York Giants hopeful about re-signing Jason Pierre-Paul

ESPN is reporting the New York Giants are feeling hopeful about re-signing defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who missed a good chunk of last season and put up numbers unlike what fans have come to expect from him after seriously injuring his hand in a fireworks accident last Fourth of July.

Pierre-Paul lost his index finger in the accident and appeared in only eight games last season, posting 26 tackles and a sack compared to the 77 tackles and 12.5 sacks he had in 2014.

As a result of that, the Giants are looking to bring back Pierre-Paul on a one-year contract and convincing him that his best option is to remain in New York and continue his recovery with the team that knows him best and is willing to be patient with him.

But it is also worth noting that Pierre-Paul just had surgery to improve the flexibility in his middle finger so that he can get rid of the heavy club he played with on the hand last season, so perhaps he and his representatives will look to up his value with that information.
