The South Dakota State Jackrabbits defeated the North Dakota State Bison in Sioux Falls this evening to win the Summit League Tournament and punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament next week. Freshman Mike Daum led South Dakota State with 18 points and nine rebounds off the bench as South Dakota State pulled away in the second half of what was initially a very close game, with the score at 30-29 at halftime.
But the Jackrabbits took control at the second half and fought off a late Bison rally, ultimately out-rebounding North Dakota State 39-26 en route to victory. As a result, South Dakota State won its third-ever Summit League title under longtime coach Scott Nagy and will now take its third trip to the NCAA Tournament, the last being in 2013. That year, the Jackrabbits were a No. 13 seed and lost to No. 4 Michigan in the Round of 64.
Just what this year’s tournament holds for South Dakota State remains to be seen, but be sure to stay tuned to Campus Sports for further updates on the Jackrabbits’ path to the NCAA Tournament!
