Marshall Plumlee breaks nose in win over NC State

For a long time, it’s been known that the Plumlee brothers of the Duke Blue Devils have been some of the toughest players in the country. The youngest brother, Marshall Plumlee, proved that he is the toughest of the three in a game-winning play in the ACC tournament on Wednesday.

The Blue Devils were facing off against the NC State Wolfpack in the second round of the conference tournament when he went up for a late layup. Plumlee was fouled hard on the play, but was still able to sink the layup and make the and-one shot to complete the three-point play that proved to be the game change for Duke.

He was being treated on the bench and it was pretty clear that his nose was not the way it was supposed to be. It was later reported that head coach Mike Krzyzewski confirmed a broken nose for Marshall Plumlee.

Coach K later confirmed that a mask had been ordered for Plumlee and it would be delivered to their hotel. It certainly looks like the team’s big man is going to try and continue playing through the conference tournament.

The Blue Devils surely can’t afford to lose another player who plays at the caliber of Plumlee. It’s pretty clear that Plumlee is willing to lay everything, including his good lucks, on the line to help his team win.
