The Cleveland Browns can do nothing but sit idly by as they lose players to other teams in free agency and though some questioned why, ESPN’s Adam Schefter went on live television and gave a reason of his own.
Of course, his bluntness made fellow analyst Nicole Briscoe go wide-eyed.
Say what you want about Schefter and his opinion, but he’s absolutely right. The Browns have done nothing in recent years to show that they are close or committed to building a winning team, so why would players stick around long-term when another team offers just as much money, if not more or less, and a better chance to win more immediately?
Keep in mind, we’re talking about the same Cleveland Browns franchise that has gone through 16 different starting quarterbacks since 2005, and that number is only going to grow in the future unless whomever is drafted with the second overall pick this year proves to be the answer.
That said, keep it up, Schefter. You’re just saying what we were thinking about the Cleveland Browns for the past decade plus.
