Manziel to be ‘gone by the end of the week’

The Cleveland Browns will either waive or trade quarterback Johnny Manziel by week’s end, Aditi Kinkhabwala said on NFL Network’s Free Agency Frenzy this afternoon.

It sounds as though the Browns are looking to see if they can get anything in return for the young quarterback before outright releasing him, as they could have done so at any point yesterday. Manziel has been nothing short of a Grade A bust since being drafted by Cleveland out of Texas A&M in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, though he has shown flashes of potential.

But we are at the point now where Manziel is just no longer worth the headache in Cleveland. After being caught on camera partying during the season and showing up to practice drunk and hung over, it is just best that both parties move on.

Manziel is also likely looking at a suspension from the NFL in 2016 as a domestic violence case against him is currently pending in Texas.

Thus, regardless of what the Browns decide to do with him, it’s become crystal clear that Johnny Manziel will not be in a Cleveland Browns uniform next season.
