Texas Tech WR Jakeem Grant runs 4.10 40?

A New Orleans Saints scout timed Texas Tech wide receiver Jakeem Grant’s 40-yard dash at an eye-popping 4.10 seconds at the Red Raiders’ Pro Day, according to 247 Sports’ Luke Rodgers.

Granted, Texas Tech’s official Twitter clocked Grant’s 40 time at 4.34, so neither time is what one would call official, but Grant’s NFL Draft stock could soon see a nice bump now that this time has gone public and Chris Johnson’s mark of 4.24 could be broken. It is also worth noting that Grant, a former three-star recruit from the Dallas area, is a bit small for the NFL at 5-foot-7, 168 pounds, so there’s no guarantee that he’ll even be drafted in spite of his incredible skills on the field.

But the fact remains that with speed like that, there will be at least one team willing to take a chance on Jakeem Grant, Texas Tech’s all-time leading receiver. He posted 254 receptions for 3,286 yards and 27 touchdowns in four years with the Red Raiders and was also a force on special teams, returning 87 kickoffs for 2,169 yards and four touchdowns.

And now that his lightning-fast speed has become public, he can look forward to having at least some sort of role in the NFL.
