McQuitty, who currently stars at Battle High School in Columbia, Missouri, was also mulling offers from a number of schools including Maryland, Michigan, Iowa and Kansas, among others. He will instead head to Lincoln to join a Nebraska team that finished 36th in total offense and 33rd in receiving offense, but generally struggled in its first season under coach Mike Riley. Nebraska did beat UCLA in the Foster Farms Bowl, but generally looked out of sorts in going 6-7 (3-5 Big Ten) and just barely qualifying for a BCS bowl.
And adding someone in Jaevon McQuitty could be just what the Cornhuskers need in 2016. Nebraska has two upperclassmen in Brandon Reilly and Jordan Westerkamp returning this year, but neither man was a 1,000 yard receiver. McQuitty has the ability to be a game-changer on any team and though he may not be an immediate impact player in 2016, he should at least help diversify Nebraska’s offense.
