Illinois G Jaylon Tate arrested for domestic battery

On Friday, the Illinois Fighting Illini suffered a blowout loss to the Purdue Boilermakers in the Big Ten Tournament. On Saturday morning, that disappointment continued when the team learned reserve guard Jaylon Tate was arrested on a charge of domestic battery.

Tate was booked into the Champaign County Jail at 6:15 a.m. following his misdemeanor arrest, per The News-Gazette

A police report detailing the incident has not yet been finished, but Tate is expected to remain in jail until a bond court appearance on Sunday.

It is just the latest disappointing event for the Fighting Illini men’s basketball program this season.

On the season, the Chicago native averaged a mere 1.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
