UConn upsets Temple to clinch spot in AAC Championship

UConn pulled off the upset and defeated top-seeded Temple to clinch a spot in the American Athletic Conference championship game tomorrow by a score of 77-62.

Shonn Miller and Daniel Hamilton each had 19 points and UConn has all of the momentum in the world following yesterday’s epic quadruple-overtime win over Cincinnati in the AAC Quarterfinal. The Huskies shot 52 percent from the field as a team and Temple just had no way of stopping it. The Owls shot only 36 percent from the field and 20 percent from long range and despite winning the AAC regular season title, could find themselves on the bubble given all of the parity this year.

UConn will now face the winner of this afternoon’s game between Tulane and Memphis and is in a prime position to return to the NCAA Tournament after missing out last year. The last time UConn made the big dance, it ended up winning a national championship as a No. 7 seed, so anything is possible.
