Even Tulsa players thought they had no chance at making NCAA Tournament

One of the biggest surprises of Selection Sunday came when it was revealed the Tulsa Golden Hurricane had reached the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

This season, Tulsa went just 20-11 in the AAC. There was virtually no one going on record to say that Tulsa was a tournament team it it was widely believed that they would be participating in this year’s NIT.

However, this is March Madness after all, so the script was flipped and Tulsa ended up shocking the world to make the field.

Just how shocking was Tulsa’s presence in the bracket? There players didn’t even think they had a shot.

This is what senior guard Shaquille Harrison had to say when asked about the possibility of Tulsa being named to the 68-team field.

Well, the good news for Tulsa is that Harrison was wrong. The bad news, however, is for teams like St. Bonaventure, South Carolina, and Monmouth, who ended up being snubbed by the highly controversial decision.
