There have been some pretty great running backs to come out of Athens the last few years with Todd Gurley and Knowshon Moreno just to name a few. For former four-star running back A.J. Turman, it has been a different story.
Turman joined the Bulldogs in 2013 as a four-star player out of Orlando, Florida. He is heading into his redshirt junior season with the Bulldogs, but he has been given a release from the program and will seek a transfer.
Updating: UGA has given RB A.J. Turman a release to transfer.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Turman move down to the FCS level as he saw no action on the field during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He would have two years of eligibility if he were to move down to play immediately.
The Bulldogs likely won’t be hurt by A.J. Turman’s departure. They will get Nick Chubb back from injury this season.
