Cal PG Tyrone Wallace injures hand in practice

California Golden Bears point guard Tyrone Wallace injured his right hand in practice yesterday, two days before his team is set to begin play in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, according to an AP report.

A spokesman offered little detail last night, other than that Wallace would be evaluated and further information would be made public today, but this would be a tremendous loss for the Golden Bears if Wallace were indeed forced to miss time.

Keep in mind that while Wallace did lead the Golden Bears with 15.3 points and 4.4 assists per game this season, while also posting 5.4 rebounds, he did miss five games with a broken right hand. Again, nothing has yet been said regarding his status for the tournament, but Cal fans are surely waiting with baited breath.

Should Wallace be forced to miss the tournament, freshmen Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb would likely become the top go-to guys in coach Cuonzo Martin’s offense.
