There was no denying that Chip Kelly wanted to get his old college quarterbacker Marcus Mariota into a Philadelphia Eagles uniform before the 2015 NFL Draft. But no one really knew just how desperate Kelly was to get Mariota to the team.
Until now that is.
During a spot on The Herd with Colin Cowherd this week, FOX Sports NFL Insider Peter Schrager let everyone know exactly just how much Kelly was willing to give up in order to get the second-overall pick in the draft, and take the former Oregon Duck.

Kelly was will to basically mortgage everything on the Eagles just for the chance to take a quarterback that may or may not pan out in the NFL. To offer a team a 2015 first- and second-round pick, a 2016 first-round pick, any quarterback they wanted and any single defensive player they wanted is bordering on Robert Griffin III and Ricky Williams absurdity. In fact, it may be even more absurd than that.
Obviously the deal didn’t get done, and you have to think the Eagles are happy about that seeing Kelly is now in San Francisco.
