Gonzaga upsets Seton Hall, 68-52

No. 11 Gonzaga reestablished itself as an NCAA Tournament force by taking advantage of Seton Hall’s overall inexperience and pulling off a 68-52 upset. Domantas Sabonis led the Bulldogs with 21 points and an eye-popping 16 rebounds as Gonzaga rolled over the Pirates despite committing 20 turnovers.

Be it the altitude in Denver or just having a bad night, Seton Hall did not have the magic it showcased in the Big East Final against Villanova last weekend. The Pirates shot just 32 percent from the field and 19 percent from long range. Star guard Isaiah Whitehead, who led Seton Hall to victory in the Big East Tournament last weekend, was a miserable 4 for 24 from the field and 0 for 10 from long range, even receiving oxygen on the sidelines at one point.

Long story short, though Seton Hall has a lot to be proud of this season, they were simply outclassed by Gonzaga, who are in the NCAA Tournament for the 18th consecutive year and 17th under coach Mark Few.

Gonzaga next has a date with No. 3 Utah on Saturday for a spot in the Sweet Sixteen and given how well the Bulldogs have performed since being firmly on the bubble not long ago, it is a game that is certainly worth watching.
