Wichita State upsets Arizona, 65-55

No. 11 Wichita State confirmed its status as a 2016 NCAA Tournament contender in absolutely manhandling the No. 6 Arizona Wildcats by a score of 65-55. Fred VanVleet led the Shockers with 16 points and also had five steals, while teammate Ron Baker added 13 and had six assists.

To give a better idea of how much Arizona didn’t have it tonight, a greater subject of conversation was how coach Sean Miller’s shirt was soaked with sweat and not how terribly the Wildcats were playing.

To add insult to injury, Arizona had better shooting percentages than Wichita State and had more rebounds, but that was all for naught. Arizona also had 19 turnovers to Wichita State’s six and center Kaleb Tarczewski was held very much in check offensively despite pulling down 10 rebounds and blocking three shots.

As a result, the Shockers will now face No. 3 Miami on Saturday for a spot in the Sweet Sixteen. Needless to say, that game just became a must-watch. Stay tuned to Campus Sports for further updates from the NCAA Tournament!
