Class of 2017 four-star quarterback Avery Davis has committed to Notre Dame. Davis, a dual-threat quarterback who currently attends Cedar Hill High School in the Dallas Area, announced his decision on Twitter today, as he was in South Bend for Notre Dame’s Junior Day.
Davis is far from the biggest at his position at just 5-foot-11, 192 pounds, but runs the 40-yard-dash in 4.53 seconds. Moreover, with players like Malik Zaire and DeShone Kizer ahead of him on the depth chart in the meantime, he’ll have plenty of time to develop. The fact that he won’t suit up until 2017 offers a pretty big window.
On top of Notre Dame, Davis was weighing offers from a number of schools including Baylor, Kansas, Houston, Utah, Texas Tech and Tulsa, among many others.
Instead, Davis will play for coach Brian Kelly and a Notre Dame Fighting Irish team that is set to contend next year despite losing some key players, like wideout Will Fuller.
