The Bovada Sportsbook has named the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks as the favorite to win this year’s NCAA Tournament.
It’s certainly easy to see why Kansas would be the favorite, especially with the Sweet Sixteen set to begin on Thursday. A huge championship favorite in No. 2 Michigan State was stunningly eliminated by No. 15 Middle Tennessee in the first round, and No. 3 West Virginia is also out courtesy of No. 14 Stephen F. Austin.
Oh, and let’s not forget that No. 4 Kentucky was impressively defeated by Indiana in the second round last weekend.
Most important of all, Kansas is bar-none the best team on paper at this point in the tournament. Not only have the Jayhawks won the Big 12 regular season crown twelve years in a row under coach Bill Self, but they are also the Big 12 Tournament champions and have a highly experienced core in Frank Mason III, Wayne Selden Jr. and Perry Ellis.
Kansas has a chip on its shoulder after reaching the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2013 and at this point in the big dance, it’d be a shock if the Jayhawks didn’t win it all. That said, bet your money wisely.
