Dak Prescott to work out with Dallas Cowboys QB coach

There have been discussions that the Dallas Cowboys could potentially consider one of the top quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft with the No. 4 overall pick. However, if the latest bit of draft news surrounding the Cowboys is any indication, they could decide to wait a little longer.

According to a report from the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys are set to visit Dak Prescott for a private workout.

Prescott is currently projected to be a mid-round pick, so if Dallas chooses to pass on the quarterback position at No. 4 overall, he could very well be in play.

To make things more interesting, the Cowboys will be sending QB coach Wade Wilson to conduct the workout in Starksville. Wilson and Dak Prescott previously worked together at the Senior Bowl, so there is some familiarity already there.

Prescott and Wilson also discussed the Mississippi State product possibly coming to Dallas at the combine.

“Coach Wilson just [talked] about what they expect me to do if I come in there, if it’s to be in the backup role behind Tony Romo, how do I plan on approaching it and then just talking ball,” Prescott said. “They’ve been productive meetings. He told me their picks and told me that they’re thinking about getting a quarterback with one of those picks. He was saying that if I work hard, things maybe could work out.”

So could the Cowboys have their sights set on Dak Prescott?

While we won’t know until the 2016 NFL Draft plays out, it certainly would not come as a surprise.
