No. 1 Oregon eked out a victory against No. 8 St. Joseph’s last night to reach the Sweet Sixteen of this year’s NCAA Tournament, but the Ducks getting over the Hawks was not the story of the game by any means.
Rather, in a tweet from Tim Booth of the AP, the St. Joe’s Hawk and Oregon’s Puddles the Duck can be seen engaging in quite the wing-flapping contest. Check out the video below.

You see, the Hawk already flaps his wings quite a bit during all St. Joe’s basketball games, and rightfully so. His antics hype up the crowd and get everyone behind the Hawks on-court performance, win or lose.
Puddles, rather, does so much more. For football games, he rides a motorcycle out of the tunnel. He pumps up the crowd without flapping his wings, simply using his awesome duck personality to win over the fans. In a sense, his flapping with the St. Joe’s Hawk is him saying “OK, I can do this too. So what?”
