Michigan’s football team will head to the Motor City this Saturday and hold practice at Ford Field, home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions. News of the practice was reported on Twitter by ESPN’s Dan Murphy and Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News.

Harbaugh tried to set this up last spring, too, but wasn't able to. https://t.co/czhRHLCyRW

This announcement comes after Michigan took another revolutionary step under coach Jim Harbaugh, who broke the mold and drew the ire of the SEC in holding a week of spring practice at known recruiting hotspot IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. As Murphy stated, Harbaugh has been trying to use his NFL connections to book a practice at Ford Field for some time.
And though unconventional, Harbaugh having his team practice at Ford Field could wind up being extremely beneficial. After all, though Michigan Stadium is a grand stage itself, that of any NFL stadium is much grander.
Thus, given how most if not all players on Michigan’s roster have the same common dream of playing in the NFL, it should give them quite the thrill to have the pleasure of stepping on such a field, even if it is just for a day.
