Monmouth celebrates National Puppy Day by dunking with puppies

The Monmouth Hawks and their infamous bench mob may not have made the NCAA Tournament this year and suffered an early exit in the NIT, but that hasn’t stopped them from celebrating today’s very special day.

What? You didn’t know? Why, it’s National Puppy Day.

Of course, Monmouth chose to celebrate by playing some basketball with a group of canine friends and in a video posted to SportsCenter’s Twitter, via Vine, some pups learned how to dunk.

Check out the video below!

I mean, come on, who doesn’t love puppies? They’re cute, furry, will provide friendship for a lifetime and, in this case, they can play some decent basketball.

OK, OK, so maybe these dogs aren’t quite in Air Bud territory yet, and probably never will be, but nothing cures postseason disappointment like puppies and Monmouth should take full advantage of that.

And based on the video above, it looks like Monmouth’s players are quite enjoying themselves.
