Back in March 2013, the BYU Cougars and Virginia Cavaliers announced a future home-and-home series to take place in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. The Cavaliers announced multiple changes to the series on Friday, moving the games back two years.
The irony behind the series now is that former BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall left Provo to take the job at Virginia. The two teams will now play in 2021 and 2023.
“The game between the Cavaliers and Cougars originally scheduled for 2019 in Charlottesville has been moved to 2021 and will be played in Provo. The 2023 game originally scheduled for Provo will be played in Charlottesville.”
The Cavaliers and Cougars will also play in Provo on 2025.
The two teams have played five times in the past, with Virginia holding a 3-2 edge.
