The Baylor Bears women’s team lost to the Oregon State Beavers in an upset in the Elite Eight Monday night. The Beavers had the Bears’ number right from the opening tip and Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey once again showed why she is one of the most colorful coaches in women’s basketball today.
Midway through the second quarter, with her team trailing by five, Mulkey got upset with a turnover on the court. In response to that turnover, she decided to rip off her yellow blazer and send it flying back behind her bench.
If you didn’t think that was bad enough, her antics earned her a technical foul, giving the Beavers a chance to extend their lead even more. Unfortunately for basketball fans everywhere, we won’t get the opportunity to see her throw any more articles of clothing.
You can’t really blame Kim Mulkey for being upset. Her team was No. 1 seed and was expected to beat the Beavers.
However, they lost and missed the Final Four for the fourth straight season after winning the national championship in 2012. Mulkey will likely be back next year, but that is how long we will have to wait to see her on the sidelines again.
