NCAA Tournament 2016: TV ratings are in

The television ratings for the championship game of this year’s NCAA Tournament have been released.

Oddly enough, though No. 2 Villanova won an incredibly back and forth game against No.1 North Carolina thanks to a buzzer-beating three-point shot by Kris Jenkins, the TV ratings were not much to write home about.

Per tweets from Austin Karp of Sports Business Daily, the championship game only drew a 12.0 overnight rating. However, it was the second-most watched college basketball game on cable in the past decade.

This can likely be attributed to one factor, and that is the game being broadcast on TBS as opposed to CBS, like it had for several years prior. It just goes to show that there are plenty of people out there who still don’t have cable.

Or maybe everyone was just busy on a Monday night for some reason.
