Clemson tests new helmets

Clemson is making strides in the development for safer gear regarding college football. The Tigers are testing a new helmet during spring practices designed to enhance safety and player performance.

The Clemson Football Twitter page tweeted out pictures of the new helmets, today. The helmets are designed by Riddell, a popular sports gear manufacturer. They use Riddell’s SpeedFlex technology that is designed to reduce the risk of head injury.

“The SpeedFlex features The Flex System, with flexibility engineered into the helmet’s shell, face mask and face mask attachment system with hinge clips to help reduce impact force transfer to the athlete,” via, Riddell. The Speedflex helmets have a variety of features designed to increase safety and enhance player performance.

Hopefully this new innovation will perform well and work to ensure the safety of many more college athletes.

Clemson will play its spring game on April 9th at 2:30. The new helmets will make their debut then, too.
