The Florida Gators wowed everyone and went 10-4 (7-1 SEC) to win the SEC East before losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game and then Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, but that hasn’t stopped them from getting excited for the spring game set to be held Friday night at 7 p.m. ET at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Florida has undergone a lot of roster turnover this offseason, as running back Kelvin Taylor opted to turn pro and star quarterback Will Grier transferred to West Virginia after drawing a yearlong suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Even Grier’s backup last year, Treon Harris, and wide receiver Antonio Callaway have been on suspension since January and have not been with the team since January.
But that hasn’t stopped coach Jim McElwain from maintaining a positive attitude and going into the 2016 season with his and his players’ eyes forward. After the spring game, perhaps we’ll have an idea of if last season was a fluke or not.
