Mississippi State redshirt freshman Anfernee Mullins was arrested Friday night on a simple assault charge, according to a report from Michael Bonner of The Clarion-Ledger.
Not much else is known regarding the arrest of Mullins, a former three-star defensive end from Alabama, as the Oktibbeha County Sherrif’s Office has refused to provide any further details save for the fact that Mullins has been arrested and charged with simple assault.
The timing is certainly interesting, as Mullins was arrested just two weeks after five-star Bulldogs commit Jeffery Simmons was arrested for assaulting a young woman and being caught on camera doing so. No decision has yet been made on Simmons regarding his status with the team, and the same is the case for Mullins.
“Both the Dean of Students office and the Athletics Department are aware of an off-campus incident involving Anfernee Mullins, and are working jointly to learn more about the situation,” the university said in a statement.
