If the Cleveland Browns want to ever have a weapon like wide receiver Josh Gordon on the field, they are likely going to have to look in a different direction. Gordon has been suspended since before the 2015 season began and it looks like it may continue into 2016.
According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, Gordon has yet to be reinstated to the NFL because he failed another drug test he took in March. The two samples he gave over a month came back positive for marijuana and were diluted.
In both samples, the trace of marijuana was below the 35 nanograms per milliliter required for a positive test. However, the diluted sample is considered a positive test.
This does not mean that Gordon’s suspension will be lengthened to another year or that the NFL wouldn’t consider reinstatement. However, it does muddle the process and could hurt his chances of getting back to the team before training camp opens.
Josh Gordon applied for reinstatement in February and could have been reinstated within 60 days had all went well. However, now that this test has popped up, it is probably the biggest reason why it has been nearly 90 days and he still has no answer.
