Jason Pierre-Paul relives fireworks incident

It is has been just nine months since New York Giants’ defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul nearly lost his hand in a crazy fireworks incident during a Fourth of July celebration. He was able to get back on the field last season and now he is looking to move forward from his life-changing accident.

However, before he does move forward, he decided to take a visit back to the same spot where his NFL career nearly came to an end. In an exclusive video and interview with Sports Illustrated, he relived that fateful day last summer.

Warning: This video contains graphic images of Jason Pierre-Paul’s hand after the accident.

He said that the only thing he can remember is trying to get his lighter to work and then hearing a loud boom.

“I’m looking at my [right] hand and I’m seeing every ligament,” he recalls. “You only see this stuff in the movies.”

He was able to get back to the field for the 2015 season and he looks to help his team make an impact in the NFC in 2016.
