Tyrann Mathieu received death threats for talking about Will Smith shooter

Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and claimed that after tweeting that Cardell Hayes, the man who shot and killed former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith two days ago, was a “hating a** coward,” he received death threats that have prevented him from returning home to New Orleans.

Though Mathieu deleted the initial tweet about Hayes, it just goes to show how much impact one small statement on social media can make. Though Smith’s death has been determined by local police to just be a simple case of road rage, certain details of the case are still being uncovered. The point is that we still don’t know if Hayes was connected to any gang activity but, more importantly, the internet is full of crazies. Thus, it’s no wonder that Mathieu fears for his safety.
