The Carolina Panthers will open the 2016 NFL season against the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in what will surely be a much-anticipated rematch between the two teams that squared off in Super Bowl 50 earlier this year.
The game taking place was first reported by Joseph Person of The Charlotte Observer.
Naturally, the game will be broadcast on a Thursday night and will be nationally televised, though which channel it will be on has yet to be publicized. All NFL team schedules in their entirety will be released tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and NFL Network.
But Carolina and Denver facing off should be a great game, especially with the Panthers out for revenge. The Panthers were outclassed by the Broncos’ smothering defense from start to finish in the Super Bowl and lost 24-10 despite posting a dominant regular season record of 15-1.
Thus, come kickoff in September, fans can look forward to what could be a matchup for the ages, even if Carolina will be heavily favored due to Denver no longer having Peyton Manning at quarterback.
