NFL Draft 2016: Rams prefer Carson Wentz at No. 1

The Los Angeles Rams made headlines this morning when they acquired the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft from the Tennessee Titans and if a tweet from Sam Farmer of The Los Angeles Times is true, odds are greater than none that the pick will be used to draft North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz.

The Rams definitely will use the pick on a quarterback, especially after trading Case Keenum to the New York Jets earlier this morning. Moreover, Nick Foles has not done anything to prove he can function in coach Jeff Fisher’s offense.

On top of that, when the NFL Draft comes along, it just makes more sense for the Rams to draft Wentz. With all due respect to Jared Goff, he is more of a system quarterback and his draft stock rising so high came from succeeding in Cal coach Sonny Dykes’ spread offense, while Wentz is more of a traditional gunslinger who makes his team better and could probably function in any system.
