Sacramento Kings officially fire George Karl

George Karl is one of the best coaches in NBA history and will likely end up being inducted into the Hall of Fame at some point. However, he could not turn the Sacramento Kings’ organization around and was fired after not even two full seasons.

The news was announced on Thursday after the Kings went 33-49 and missed the playoffs for the second straight season under Karl. ESPN’s Marc Stein was the first to report the official news which was rumored earlier this week.

The Kings have not made the playoffs since 2006, but that is no fault of Karl’s. The team is in a bad position at this point and it looks like it will get worse before it gets better.

George Karl certainly looks to be at the end of his career as he has spent more than 30 years in NBA and amassed a record of 1,175-782. He also helped teams to advance to 22 playoff appearances.
