Jason Hatcher retires from NFL

Longtime NFL defensive end Jason Hatcher has retired from the NFL after 10 years in the league, according to a tweet from his agent Jordan Woy.

A former third-round pick out of Grambling State, Hatcher played for the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins in his career, the latter having just released him. Hatcher had a visit with the New Orleans Saints last month, but has decided to hang up his cleats at age 33.

He leaves the NFL with 250 career tackles, 34.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 after posting 41 tackles with 11 sacks.

Jason Hatcher won’t be a Hall of Famer, but he had a reputation as a hard worker and was a beloved teammate in both Dallas and Washington. He was never the best at what he did, but always went out game after game and gave it his all.
