Robert Nkemdiche plans on buying panther after being drafted

Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche has big plans for after he’s drafted into the NFL next week, one of which is something of the pet-buying variety. Speaking to ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, Nkemdiche stated that he planned on buying a pet panther with his first NFL monies and that the idea wasn’t insane whatsoever.

“No, it’s not. They’re like cats,” he said. “If someone comes over and is scared, I’ll put the panther away.”

Speaking as a cat owner, I can safely say that Nkemdiche is way off in this regard and someone needs to talk him out of this idea immediately. Sure, the idea of owning a jungle cat seems awesome, but it’s not a good idea unless one likes the idea of being mauled and/or bitten badly.

Thus, unless Nkemdiche plans on building a significant outdoor pen so that his panther can do, well, panther stuff, better for him to consider another exotic pet that would be more manageable.
