Nigel Hayes to enter NBA Draft, won’t sign with agent

The 2016 NBA Draft is just over a few months away and a few big names have already made their intentions to enter the draft very clear. Wisconsin forward Nigel Hayes announced he would be the next player to enter the draft for now.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news Wednesday morning, saying that Hayes will enter his name into the draft. However, his position is not locked down as of yet because he won’t immediately sign with an agent.

This is smart for the rising senior because he can test the NBA waters at draft camps and the combine before making the decision to leave or return to Wisconsin for his final season. He has until May 25 to make that decision.

During the 2015-16 season, Nigel Hayes averaged 15.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while leading the Badgers to the Sweet Sixteen, where they fell just short of the Elite Eight to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

This could end up working in Hayes’ favor as the experience with NBA coaches, scouts, and trainers could be what he needs to take his game to the next level before returning to school for the 2016-17 season.
