The Lions will open their season versus the Kent State Golden Flashes, at Beaver Stadium on September 3rd. This will be head coach, James Franklin’s second season with Penn State. It’s also the second season for defensive coordinator, Bob Shoop and the inaugural season for offensive coordinator, Joe Moorhead.

Penn State hopes Moorhead can help their floundering offense which has reflected poorly on Franklin’s first season.

Penn State has 85 scholarship players and plans on an overhaul of offense this season, hoping to turn around their record in the Big 10 and are optimistic in their task ahead.

They finished the 2015-16 season 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten.
