Prince was a basketball player in a previous life

The world lost a musical icon in Prince today, but not many may know he was more than just someone who wrote some great songs and put on great performances.

In a series of newspaper clips from The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, we now know that Prince was quite the basketball player.

It just goes to show that Dave Chappelle might have been on to something when he wrote the sketch on Chappelle’s Show, the one that featured Eddie Murphy’s brother Charlie recounting a tale of playing basketball against Prince and the Revolution.

That said, given how Muggsy Bogues and Spud Webb laid the path for shorter players in the NBA, maybe Prince could have been a trailblazer of his own kind had he opted to follow basketball instead of music?

Either way, the conversation and speculation about what could have been is sure to be sky high.
