NFL scout: Jeff Driskel ‘more talented than Cook’

The quarterback position is a very confusing one this year. Other than the three quarterbacks that will likely get taken in the first round, it is hard to tell where some of these talented players will get drafted this year, but one quarterback seems to be sticking out above the rest and that is Louisiana Tech’s Jeff Driskel

He transferred into Louisiana Tech out of Florida after an inauspicious start to his career there. He had a great final season with the Bulldogs and it looks like he is getting some rave reviews from around the league.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel ranked the quarterbacks available in next week’s draft and they had Driskel in the top ten. One scout told them that he believes Driskel could be more talented that some of the ones that many believe are the top players, especially Michigan State’s Connor Cook.

“He’s got all the tools in the world,” one scout said. “You’ve just got to get over the fact he was a transfer from Florida. He’s a little bit of a different kid but you want to talk about talent after the (top) three, he’s the next guy. He’s more talented than Cook.”

During his final season at Louisiana Tech, Jeff Driskel continued to show that he is more than just a pocket passer. He threw for 4,026 yards and 27 touchdowns, while also rushing for 323 yards and five touchdowns, adding to his career total of 972 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Cook has continued to prove that he can be a starter at the next level, but it certainly looks like Driskel has the better skills and tools needed to fit in just about anywhere in the NFL.
