SEC fans love their football, nobody has ever doubted that. Many fans have turned up for this year’s spring games and the Arkansas Razorbacks helped the conference push to the front of the pack with the highest attendance numbers for spring games this year.
More than 30,000 fans came out to watch Bret Bielema’s club take the field on Saturday and that helped push the SEC’s total attendance to 508,994, over 100,000 more than 2015.
The next closest conference was the Big Ten, who beat the SEC last year, with 376,049 fans. Nearly a third of that number came from Ohio State, which broke their own record for attendance with more than 100,000 fans in The Shoe.
The SEC was led by the Georgia Bulldogs, who seated in 93,000 fans, breaking the conference’s record. They came in at second for total attendance this year behind the Buckeyes.
The rest of the Power Five was pretty pathetic as the other three conferences are expected to end up under 200,000 this year. If we based the national championship solely on spring game attendance numbers, the SEC would certainly be bringing home their second straight title.
However, that isn’t how things work and fans will just have to wait until next January to find out exactly what is going to happen.
