Carson Wentz has not heard from Eagles since No. 2 pick trade

North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz has not heard from the Philadelphia Eagles since the team traded with the Cleveland Browns for the No. 2 overall pick last week, according to Matt Lombardo of NJ.com.

This shouldn’t raise flags on anyone’s end, as the general assumption is that the Los Angeles Rams will select Cal’s Jared Goff with the No. 1 pick tomorrow night in Chicago which would thus push Wentz to the Eagles at No. 2. However, there are other things to consider.

As much as the Eagles would love to strike a deal with Wentz, what if the Rams shift course and decide to draft him with the top pick? Suddenly, the Eagles are left with Goff and are in a situation where they must come to terms on a deal with someone they didn’t want in the first place, and that doesn’t help anybody.

But there’s always one rule with the NFL Draft, and that is to expect the unexpected. Wentz should ultimately be picked by Philadelphia, but anything is possible.

The NFL Draft starts tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET, so stay tuned to Campus Sports for any and all updates from Chicago!
