The NFL Draft stock of UCLA linebacker Myles Jack has been interesting to watch over the past couple of weeks, as he has been projected anywhere from Top 5 to out of the Top 10 due to lingering concerns over a knee injury, but the New Orleans Saints seem to be quite high on him in spite of that. According to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, the Saints could indeed pick Jack at No. 12 if he slides that far.
There’s no doubt that the Saints could use help at linebacker, especially after finishing second to last in the NFL in total defense in 2015. New Orleans’ top linebacker was rookie Stephone Anthony, but he can’t carry the load by himself and having someone like Jack alongside him would immediately boost the Saints’ tackling game.
And knee concerns aside, Jack is fantastic at what he does. He recorded 178 tackles, four interceptions and 19 pass breakups in three years at UCLA, and his overall ceiling should outweigh any injury problems that COULD occur as opposed to WILL occur.
